I meant to post earlier but I got distracted...

October is ADHD Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, promoting understanding, and supporting those living with ADHD. Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects millions of people worldwide, and yet there are still so many misconceptions about what it really means to have ADHD, especially when it comes to children.

As a parent, I’ve experienced firsthand how these misconceptions can impact a child’s confidence and how easily they can be misunderstood. That’s why this month is so important—not just for those with ADHD, but for everyone who wants to create a more supportive and informed world for them. It’s about recognizing that ADHD isn’t about being “lazy” or “difficult”; it’s about understanding how differently wired brains work and how we can help them thrive.

If you’re curious to learn more about ADHD, I shared a personal story about our own journey with ADHD in a blog post titled “I’m Not Stupid Nor Lazy”. In it, I open up about our daughter’s experiences, her struggles, and her triumphs as we discovered she has ADD. It’s a story that touches on the frustration of facing judgment and labels, but also the relief and empowerment that came from understanding her needs and strengths.

You can read it here to see how our daughter’s journey helped us shift our perspective and learn that ADHD doesn’t hold anyone back—it just requires a different approach.

So, whether you’re a parent, a teacher, or someone with ADHD, let’s take this month to learn, share, and support each other.

ADHD doesn’t define a person; it’s just one part of their unique, brilliant self!
