The story of our family slogan.
In March 2023 while on vacation in Florida, we packed up the car and set off on a road trip to Key West. As the miles rolled by and the scenery shifted from highways to stunning ocean views, we found ourselves diving into a deeper conversation: What kind of family are we?
It wasn’t an easy question to answer right away. We talked about how we’ve worked hard for what we have—balancing careers, raising kids, and making sure our family’s needs are met. We're certainly not the kind of family that jets off to luxury vacations on a whim or lives in a mansion by the beach. But we also know that we’re fortunate. We have a comfortable home, our kids have opportunities, and we can take trips like this one to Key West without too much worry.
As we drove, the conversation moved to what truly matters. We’re not driven by money, nor do we measure our happiness by how much we own. We’re not wealthy, but we’re far from struggling. We fall somewhere in the middle—and that’s exactly where we’re happy to be. It’s the little moments, like this road trip, that remind us that life isn’t about being rich or poor. It’s about the experiences we share as a family.
As we talked, our son, who had been listening quietly in the back seat, suddenly chimed in: “We’re a happy medium.” His words stopped us for a moment.
It was such a simple statement, but it captured everything perfectly. We are—a family that’s worked hard, built a life we love, and finds happiness in the balance.
We’re a “happy medium,” and for us, that’s just right.
